Os troféus estão divididos em 4 graus:

De um modo geral, os graus têm por base o nível de dificuldade para a obtenção dos troféus.
Podes coleccionar troféus nos jogos que suportam essa função. Eles são atribuídos quando alcanças determinados objectivos num jogo. Os tipos de troféus disponíveis e as condições para a sua conquista variam com o jogo.
Actualmente esta questão dos troféus não tem qualquer vantagem, terá apenas como aliciante o desafio que nos é colocado no decorrer do jogo. Muitos deles coincidem com objectivos do jogo em si, outros são questões adicionais que podem em nada influenciar o outcome final do jogo. Especula-se que no futuro, estes troféus possam ser convertidos em pontos, para desbloqueio de conteúdos adicionais nos jogos.
Além disso, a SCE confirmou à videogamer.com que todos os jogos PS3 que sejam lançados depois de Janeiro de 2009, vão ter que suportar obrigatoriamente o sistema de Troféus.
De notar que os troféus só são acessíveis a partir do firmware 2.40.
