The video download service is now live! It is accessible to all North American consumers through the PlayStation Store, either via PC or PlayStation 3. As mentioned previously, content purchased is fully portable, meaning you can playback these videos on both your PS3 and PSP.
Downloading will be not permitted outside the Authorized Term. In addition, once the Video Content has been downloaded from PSN, you will not be able to download it again for any reason without purchase of another copy.

Some sad news for those folks who want to access the recently opened PSN Video Store from outside the US. Joystiq reports that Sony (http://www.qj.net/tags/sony/880)'s PSN Video Store is IP-locked to the United States.
What does this mean, exactly? Well, if you have a US account, but don't live in the US (let's say Europe), you still won't be able to access the video store. In any event, this means that folks outside the US will have to wait for their respective areas to open up shop. Let's hope it happens soon.

While the Western PlayStation 3 world was treated to a pleasant surprise in E3 2008 with the launch of the PSN video service, their Japanese counterparts couldn't say they feel the same. The video store will debut in the country in September and Sony (http://www.qj.net/tags/sony/880) seems to have a viable plan on how to pull it off.
The video service's launch in Japan (http://www.qj.net/tags/japan/109) will be headlined by the anime Bounen no Zamudo from Bones. It will be available on a rental basis in both HD and SD.
The show will have 26 30-minute episodes which will cost 300 yen (US$ 2.80) in SD and 400 yen (US$ 4.80) in HD. The rental is valid for three days and will be exclusive to the PSN as there are no plans to televise it yet.
